Over the weekend of May 31 – June 1, 2025, Olomouc Zoo hosted our 12th annual National Shark Awareness Week, held in celebration of World Oceans Day.

We were thrilled with the strong turnout and grateful for the many kind words from visitors, who described our exhibit as both engaging and informative.

To reward the most curious young attendees, we handed out adorable plush sea animals — a big hit with the kids! One of the most talked-about creatures was the textile cone, which some visitors had even encountered in person in the past. Thankfully, those encounters ended safely for everyone involved. We were also delighted to welcome international guests and enjoyed some great conversations with them.

Thanks to generous voluntary donations, we raised 1,814 CZK. These funds, increased to 2,000 CZK, are going to support the Maldives Whale Shark Research Programme.
