There is 30 protected areas in the Arab Republic of Egypt, see the list below. They covers more than 15% of the state area which is 1 002 450 km². 95% of the Egypt population lives at only 6% of the territory, along the narrow Nile Valley and Delta. The rest of the land area is covered with mountais and deserts - almost intact wilderness.
